At present, this is aromatically quite similar to the Ruchottes with perhaps a bit more warm earth influence. There is better verve and freshness on the palate of the dense, powerful and tautly muscular big-bodied flavors that coat the palate with firm but fine tannins on the serious, youthfully austere and slightly warm finale. As is typically the case chez Mugneret, the Clos de Vougeot is almost always the most structured wine in the range and so it appears to be again in 2020.
